Rolling Hills Report Card and Grade Scale
Please note the grading scale for Rolling Hills Academic Awards is different
from the CJSF/HS membership grading scale!
Weighting of grades
It is the philosophy of our staff that work completed is a representation of a student’s mastery of grade level standards, and this is noted clearly in the aforementioned purpose of grades at RHMS. Every teacher has different types of assignments, and each assignment serves a different purpose. Sometimes assignments are what we call formative, in that they guide the teacher’s instruction. They are sometimes practiced for a standard just introduced, and mastery wouldn’t be expected at that point. Still others are more summative, in that they come at a time when mastery is expected, and such grades will be greater weight. Teachers will use either a weighted percentage based system or a total points weighted system to achieve this weight.
These details will be provided in each teacher’s class policies at the start of the year. Please contact your child’s teachers if you have any questions about the weight of different grades.
