Principal's Welcome

Hello and welcome to all current and prospective Bengals!

It has been my privilege to serve as Principal of Rolling Hills Middle School since July 2008, and I’m proud of the accomplishments of our entire school community throughout those years. I’m especially proud of the fact that we continue to reflect upon our practices to provide a high quality education in a place where students are engaged in their learning.

I have over 25 years of experience both as a teacher and administrator in high schools and middle schools in Rhode Island, Brazil, and California.  Though I have worked as a teacher and an administrator, I consider my most important role as that of child advocate. I enjoy celebrating their successes, both great and small, and helping them forge their way through this challenging and most crucial stage of development: pre-adolescence!  I enjoy the dramatic changes that will occur for students in their three years here and am thankful that I get to be a part of that growth. I also consider it my mission that students receive the most well-rounded education possible while here at RHMS. To me, a well-rounded education means outstanding instruction using research-based practices from top-notch teachers, as well as providing opportunities for students to develop character and to cultivate passions that they may not have known existed.  To this end, we have a staffed library, an intramural program and extracurricular athletics, numerous and varied clubs, schoolwide Focus activities and rallies, and excellent academic programs, thus enabling students to forge paths toward developing their passions, their strengths, and their whole being.

Rolling Hills has what I call the “trifecta” for learning: innovative teachers who embody and encourage lifelong learning and who work tirelessly for their students, motivated students who want to learn and be held accountable, and dedicated parents who support both students and teachers through these most challenging years.  As a result, we are able to provide opportunities that address the needs of the whole child so we can send them out into this great wide world filled with wonder, a solid academic foundation, and a desire to make this world a better place than the one they’ve inherited.

I am thankful every day to come to work in a job I love, and I’m equally thankful that it provides me the opportunity to observe what our children can become if given the right support.  If you are not yet a member of the Bengal family and have questions, I encourage you to contact me.

Sincerely,

Debbie Piccoli Bowers

Rolling Hills Middle School Principal
